St Valentine's Day - The origin

We always celebrate Valentine's Day, but how much we know about the origin?

Here's one report that stands out:

Accrediting the martyr Roman priest Saint Valentine.
During the oppressive rule of Europe Claudius II, Rome was constantly in war. Inorder to ensure a constant conscription of his empire's men to the Roman army, marriage were banned and couples were forcibly separated (so sad....)
Situation then was so bad that young couples have to take their matrimonial vows in SERCRET with the help of Saint Valentine (indeed the Saint). Nevertheless, the priest eventually arrest, they torture he was sujected to and his death on February 14 for his work and conviction to joining couples in love in sacred matrimony, immortalised the priest and his cause.
This day, 14th Feburary, that began as a commemoration to Saint Valentine, soon stood as a reminder and celebration of love.
